Pay To Win? No Thank You
When we added a shop to Racing Snails, we started by selling coin bundles. It took us far too long to realise that this made Racing Snails a ‘Pay-to-Win’ game. Players who decided to spend real money on in-game coins could train their Snails as much as they wanted, leaving non-paying players at a severe disadvantage.
Of course, it is very important that Racing Snails makes money. We need to cover the cost of hosting the game and paying the dedicated team who work on the game, but doing so at the cost of the experience of those of you who don’t want to buy virtual coins is not okay with us.
If you’d like to help us keep Racing Snails running, buying cosmetic items in the shop is an amazing way of doing it! But, from now on, we have decided that we will not be selling coins in the shop. We may include a few coins in cosmetic bundles, but we don’t want to create a ‘Pay-to-Win’ game. We want all players, regardless of how much they want to spend, an equal chance in the game.
